Finding the Funny: Humour and Content Strategy
We all know that funny content online can both bond communities and fiercely divide opinion. Of all of the genres of content marketing and content strategy that you can embrace, comedy and humour is one of the trickiest to master.
More “serious” organisations will often shy away from trying to be funny altogether, through fear of huge damage to brand and reputation. I argue that any organisation – no matter how serious or frivolous they may be – can find an approach to using humour, or the mechanics of humour, in order to create engaging content.
This was the topic of my talk at Confab Central in May 2015. Confab Central is the content strategy conference that dwarfs all other content strategy conferences, held annually in Minnesota, bringing together the finest speakers and leaders in content strategy from around the world (it’s such an ego boost for me to speak at their events!).
The kind folks over at Confab recorded my talk, so here it is for the world to see, if you’re into that kind of thing…
If you want more on this topic and others, you can also hear me speak at future Confab events in Minneapolis (May 2016) and Seattle (September 2016), as well as many other conferences around the world throughout the year. Visit the Confab Events website to see the schedules and to book.
If you’re interested in having me speak at your conference, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch for a chat.
